The blockchain company has been named the campaign’s exclusive digital asset and payments partner, a role that will allow it to support funding flows through its U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin, Ripple RLUSD.

The partnership brings together financial technology and social impact at a time when organizations are increasingly looking for faster and more efficient ways to move capital across borders. Water.org, the nonprofit founded by actor Matt Damon and engineer Gary White, estimates that more than two billion people worldwide still do not have safe water available in their homes.

Ripple RLUSD Speeds Up Global Fund Transfers

Under the agreement, Ripple RLUSD will be used to transfer funds to Water.org’s network of microfinance partners operating across developing markets.

These local financial institutions provide small, affordable loans that help families install water connections, pumps, toilets, and sanitation systems. Rather than waiting for large infrastructure projects or government funding, households can gain access to essential services through financing tailored to their needs.

Ripple says its blockchain-based payment infrastructure can help reduce delays and lower the costs associated with international fund transfers. This could allow Water.org to distribute capital more efficiently to organizations working directly with communities.

In a statement, Ripple said,

“We’re proud to join Water.org in support of Get Blue.”

Ripple RLUSD Supports WaterCredit’s Loan Model

At the center of the initiative is Water.org’s WaterCredit program, a financing model that transforms donations and corporate contributions into affordable household loans.

Unlike traditional aid programs that depend on one-time grants, WaterCredit allows borrowed funds to be repaid and reused. Water.org reports that its loans have maintained a repayment rate of approximately 98%, helping the organization extend support to more families over time.

The approach has already helped millions of people gain access to clean water and sanitation services. By adding Ripple RLUSD to the funding process, Water.org aims to improve the movement of capital between donors, financial institutions, and local communities.

Gary White, CEO and co-founder of Water.org, emphasized the role of corporate participation in expanding the program’s reach, stating,

“When brands join us, they invite their communities into this work.”

Get Blue Expands Corporate Support

The Get Blue campaign was introduced earlier this year during the World Economic Forum and has since attracted support from several major brands.

Participating companies include Amazon, Starbucks, Gap, Ecolab, AccuWeather, TikTok, and now Ripple. Through the campaign, businesses connect donations to consumer purchases and services.

For example, Gap contributes a portion of sales from selected products, while Starbucks plans to donate a percentage from qualifying beverage purchases during the campaign period.

This model allows consumers to contribute to water access projects through everyday spending while helping raise awareness of global water challenges.

Ripple RLUSD Continues Growing Beyond Financial Markets

The Water.org partnership adds another real-world use case for Ripple RLUSD, which is backed by U.S. dollar deposits, short-term U.S. Treasuries, and cash equivalents. The stablecoin operates on both the XRP Ledger and Ethereum networks.

Since its launch, Ripple RLUSD has been used for payments, settlements, and treasury operations. Ripple has also explored humanitarian applications, including drought-insurance initiatives in Africa and educational funding programs in the United States.

While neither organization has disclosed the amount of funding involved in the latest partnership, the collaboration highlights how blockchain technology can support practical social initiatives beyond trading and investment activities.

As stablecoins continue finding new applications, Ripple RLUSD is increasingly being positioned as a tool that can improve financial access and support global development efforts through faster and more efficient capital movement.
