The annual percentage yield is a standardized method of calculating the real one-year rate of return on investments. Because it considers compound interest, APY is considered the true rate of return on investment. Compound interest is added to the total investment on a regular basis, raising the account balance and increasing the amount of money gained through interest. The APY formula is as follows:(1 + r/n)n – 1 = APY – “r”denotes the period rate, and “n”denotes the number of compounding periods.

Staking is a method of generating money offered by cryptocurrency brokers. It allows the user to stake their cryptocurrency for a set amount of time and earn extra coins in the process. The earnings are expressed as an annual percentage yield, which can reach 300% on some DeFi systems.

Staking is offered by the majority of cryptocurrency brokers. Staking refers to keeping your coins for a certain period of time and getting interest based on the annual percentage yield. Because APY is a received interest, some Muslims regard it as haram.

The holy text of Islam forbids Muslims from engaging in commercial enterprises that provide interest-based profits. It also bans them from investing in enterprises that generate interest. Staking is considered an interest-based enterprise in cryptocurrency since it requires staking your digital assets for a certain amount of time and collecting an annual percentage yield. The APY is deemed interest and is thus forbidden.
